Marty, acting as an advertising assistant, is embedded into Walmart Connect to offer smarter campaign management. According to Walmart Connect, the AI agent empowers users with diverse expertise levels to develop and optimize campaigns effortlessly.

Walmart Connect revealed in a recent blog post.

What Does the Future Hold for the AI Assistant?

Currently, the Marty AI system is in its beta phase, specifically targeting Sponsored Search campaigns. Based on user interaction data, Walmart Connect notes that advertisers utilize Marty in highly personalized ways, with 97% of queries to the assistant being unique.

“The advertising assistant will be available to all Sponsored Search advertisers in the Walmart Connect Ad Center later this half,”

reports Walmart Connect, indicating future updates with enhanced capabilities.

Beyond advertising, Walmart explores integrating AI into its customer shopping experiences through tools like Sparky. With Sparky, customers can easily check product availability and review specifications before purchasing, an adoption rate of 81% among surveyed shoppers. Given the emphasis on improved search functionalities, Walmart recognizes the necessity to align brand strategies with new consumer behaviors.

Walmart’s Retail Media segment saw significant growth in recent years, with sales increasing by 33% in the last quarter compared to the previous year, outpacing general company revenue. This growth is significant as it occurs amidst cautious consumer behavior and scrutiny over brand budgets. Emphasizing its advantage, Walmart combines first-party data with nationwide purchasing data to drive its retail media strategy.

The efforts of Walmart in harnessing AI’s capabilities to assist advertisers reflect the broader trend of digital transformation in retail.
