PostNL has unveiled the NL Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon, expanding its crypto stamp collection with new features. This latest release incorporates blockchain technology, providing users with an interactive way to engage with their stamps. Designed for registered mail within the Netherlands, it ensures secure mailing for letters up to 20 grams. Collaborating with Österreichische Post, the Dutch postal company introduces two variants—Magic Book and Treasure—offering collectors an opportunity to enhance their digital assets. The new release follows previous crypto stamp editions, integrating elements from earlier designs while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.

Similar crypto stamps have been issued by Österreichische Post in the past, with the Austrian counterpart launching its Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon on February 25, 2025. The concept of morphing NFTs, where digital assets evolve into new forms by combining different elements, has been explored in previous editions. The latest Dutch release continues this approach, adding new collectible possibilities for stamp enthusiasts. Compared to earlier versions, this edition emphasizes a refined visual design and incorporates symbolic elements from past collections, further linking the series together.

What makes the NL Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon unique?

Each NL Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon contains a distinctive magic symbol hidden behind a safe door, representing either a magic book or a treasure. Owners can merge these symbols with NFTs from the 2024 NL Crypto Stamp Dragon, a process that results in the creation of a baby dragon digital asset. This feature allows for 40 possible NFT variations, offering collectors multiple options for customization. By integrating blockchain technology, these stamps serve both as physical collectibles and digital assets.

How many stamps are available for purchase?

A total of 3,000 stamps have been produced, with 1,500 copies of each variant—Magic Book and Treasure. This limited availability enhances their exclusivity, making them highly sought after by collectors. Lisa Filzi, known for designing previous editions, has crafted the visual elements of this release. The imagery continues the theme established in earlier versions, incorporating a locked vault and a guarding dragon. The color scheme, consisting of yellow and ochre hues, maintains the familiar aesthetic associated with past stamps.

PostNL has confirmed that the NL Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon will be available for purchase from March 25, 2025, at a price of €11.30 per stamp. Sales will be conducted exclusively through NLcryptostamp.nl, and availability will be limited to existing stock. Österreichische Post previously launched a similar version, reinforcing the collaboration between the Dutch and Austrian postal services in developing blockchain-integrated stamps.

Blockchain-based stamps have gained traction among collectors in recent years, offering a hybrid of traditional philately and digital ownership. By providing unique NFT combinations, these stamps add an extra layer of engagement beyond their physical form. With the growing interest in digital assets, postal services are exploring new ways to enhance the value of collectible stamps.

The NL Crypto Stamp Safe Dragon continues PostNL’s experimentation with blockchain technology in philately. For collectors, the integration of NFTs provides opportunities to diversify their digital collections while maintaining tangible assets. As blockchain-based collectibles gain popularity, similar innovations may appear across postal services worldwide. Whether for investment or personal interest, these stamps bridge traditional and digital collecting, offering a distinct experience for enthusiasts.
