What Makes Freehand’s Approach Effective?

The deployment of Freehand’s AI technology has yielded significant results for its clients, leading to recovered spending and faster workflows. In its latest implementations, Freehand’s solution achieves 5% to 10% spending recovery on complex categories and enhances workflow speed by five to seven times. Furthermore, it shortens the procure-to-pay cycle by over 70% and allows companies to re assign their workforce more effectively.

How Do Recent Advancements Compare?

In recent years, the procurement landscape has greatly evolved with AI’s incorporation into enterprise systems, marking a shift from software that supports users to software that operates autonomously. Freehand’s approach is part of a larger move in the industry, where major enterprises are increasingly relying on AI solutions to handle complex tasks previously reliant on human intervention. The advancements signify a substantial shift in managing procurement efficiencies and cost-saving methodologies.

Nitin Jayakrishnan, Freehand’s CEO, emphasizes the agency’s ability to autonomously make decisions and accept responsibility for outcomes.

“Our AI agents can decide, act, and take accountability for outcomes,”

he stated. His comments highlight the advanced capabilities of Freehand’s AI, contrasting older, more passive technologies.

The funding round was led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners, showcasing significant investor interest. Dharmesh Thakker from Battery Ventures noted the financial advantages these AI agents bring by achieving vast enterprise savings. Meanwhile, NewRoad Capital’s Gregoire Lehmann underscored their clients’ visible business successes brought by Freehand’s technology.

Abhijeet Manohar, Freehand’s co-founder, reflected on the transformative nature of their platform, illustrating a move from user-dependent software to AI that embodies the user.

“Building software that is the user meant we could drive far deeper transformation for our customers,”

Manohar explained, pointing towards the robust adaptability and effectiveness of Freehand’s technology.

As more enterprises show interest in applying generative AI technologies for procurement, with enterprises generating over $10 billion revenue leading the exploration, the broader integration of AI in procurement is gaining traction. This move could potentially redefine transactional efficiencies across industries, focusing on enhanced procurement efficiency.

The trajectory of Freehand’s AI platforms in the supply chain sector emphasizes an ongoing shift towards greater automation and precision in enterprise operations. With necessary funding and influential stakeholders backing the technology, the integration and reliance on AI are likely to deepen, providing coherent solutions to age-old procurement and supply chain challenges. Businesses should consider how such AI technologies can be embedded into their strategies to realize optimal savings and workflow enhancements.
