Impactpool, a Stockholm-based career platform, recently announced the successful completion of a Series A funding round, securing $4 million (approximately €3.6 million). Led by Mediahuis and Fort Knox, the funding will support the company’s mission to place one billion professionals with organizations focused on meaningful change. The platform uses AI technology to connect job seekers with opportunities in international development and humanitarian sectors.
Impactpool continues to expand its reach since its founding in 2015 by Magnus Bucht and Henrik Ryden. The platform has facilitated connections between talent and organizations like UNICEF and WHO. Impactpool employs AI to tailor job listings and career resources, aiming to fill complex positions often found within these sectors. Historically, other reports highlighted the platform’s partnerships with international organizations and its role in making the job search process more transparent for candidates.
Founding and Mission
Impactpool was established to address the gap in finding qualified candidates for impactful roles. Co-founders Magnus Bucht and Henrik Ryden, along with their technical co-founder Jon, leveraged their extensive recruitment experience in international organizations to create the platform. They noticed a significant interest from global talent eager to work for organizations focused on sustainability and social impact. Bucht emphasized the platform’s value:
“Given the state of the planet, more candidates want careers contributing to sustainability,” he said.
The platform uses advanced AI capabilities to offer job listings, talent pools, and personalized job alerts. Bucht explained,
“Our AI is trained on over 1 million job descriptions from over 2,700 impact organizations.”
This specialized AI understanding helps address unique job requirements in the sector, offering sophisticated services to recruiters and candidates.
Scope and Challenges
Impactpool has partnered with major United Nations organizations and other international bodies to enhance its service offerings. The platform has helped nearly one million candidates from 195 countries connect with impactful job opportunities. However, maintaining a diverse candidate pool remains a challenge. The company is committed to increasing awareness and removing barriers to ensure accessibility for all candidates. Bucht remarked,
“Diversity and inclusion are priorities, and we work to support all candidates.”
Looking ahead, the international development and humanitarian sectors are expected to undergo significant changes. Factors like the shift to remote jobs and the influence of AI will shape the future landscape. Impactpool aims to adapt to these changes by offering specific search options for remote jobs and evolving its AI technology to keep up with skill requirements. Bucht noted,
“We are well-positioned for these changes with our large talent pool.”
Investors are optimistic about Impactpool’s future. Mediahuis’s Patrick De Wachter expressed strong support for Impactpool’s mission:
“We fully support Impactpool’s mission to bring top talent together to address global challenges.”
Fort Knox’s Markus Olsson also praised the company’s progress:
“The team has delivered beyond our expectations in product and business development.”
Both investors are committed to supporting Impactpool’s sustainable journey ahead.
