Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has introduced new AI-driven shopping tools aimed at making the online shopping process more seamless and personalized. These features are designed to assist users in finding fashion and beauty products that match their preferences with greater accuracy. By leveraging AI models and Shopping Graph, the company seeks to simplify product discovery, offering consumers a more efficient shopping experience. With these updates, users can explore styles and trends that align with their individual tastes before making purchasing decisions.

How Does Vision Match Improve Shopping? What New Virtual Try-On Features Are Available?

Google has previously integrated AI into its shopping platform with features like AR-powered try-ons and personalized search results. However, these earlier enhancements were focused mainly on individual product recommendations rather than providing a broader vision-based search experience. The latest tools, such as Vision Match and expanded virtual try-ons, signify a shift toward an interactive and visually guided shopping process, bridging the gap between inspiration and actual purchases.

How Does Vision Match Improve Shopping?

Vision Match is one of Google’s newly released features that allows users to describe clothing items they envision. Using AI-generated images, the tool provides product suggestions that match the provided descriptions. This function was previously available for experimental use but is now accessible to all mobile users in the U.S. It enables shoppers to refine their ideas and explore available products more effectively.

“If a consumer is looking for a garment and can’t find it, they can click on the ‘Can’t find it? Create it’ prompt, and from there, we’ll suggest some ideas to get you started and you can further refine your vision and browse products you can buy,” said Lilian Rincon, VP of Consumer Shopping Product at Google.

This approach differs from other visual discovery platforms such as TikTok and Pinterest by centering on individualized recommendations rather than broad trend-based results.

What New Virtual Try-On Features Are Available?

Google has also expanded its virtual try-on capabilities, enabling users to test beauty products before purchasing them. With the help of Gemini models and augmented reality, shoppers can apply digital makeup to see how different shades and styles might look on them. Searching for beauty trends such as “spring makeup” or “soft glam” provides users with curated looks they can experiment with digitally.

“When you search on mobile for certain celebrity makeup looks or terms like ‘spring makeup,’ you can try on products inspired by that look,” Rincon stated. “For example, searching ‘soft glam’ might offer you a selection of neutral eyelash, a rosy blush, and a subtle lip gloss, all applied virtually to your face.”

This expansion extends beyond beauty to fashion, with virtual try-on options now including dresses, pants, and skirts, allowing customers to assess different outfits on various body types.

Google’s virtual try-on tool now incorporates full outfits, including tops and shoes, giving users a more comprehensive preview of their selected styles. Machine learning enhancements improve the accuracy of product visuals, ensuring shoppers can make more confident choices. These updates aim to address consumer challenges in online shopping, particularly in visualizing how products will look on them before purchase.

The introduction of AI-powered shopping tools reflects the growing demand for more interactive and intuitive online retail experiences. By combining AI-generated images with virtual try-ons, Google offers a more integrated approach to digital shopping. While other platforms provide visual inspiration, Google emphasizes personalized discovery, assisting users in refining their searches based on their distinct preferences. As AI capabilities continue to evolve, these features may further influence consumer behavior, making online shopping more tailored and efficient.
