Over the years, Amsterdam Circular has consistently championed sustainability, with previous editions including a diverse array of innovators. Notably, the programme’s earlier intakes have seen successful ventures like Aectual and African Clean Energy making significant progress in their respective fields. The current cohort appears to continue this trend, emphasizing measurable impacts across various industries.
The programme is a two-month, cost-free initiative supporting early-stage startups. It provides co-financing opportunities and an investor readiness programme, helping startups build sustainable businesses. Participants engage in workshops, deep dives, and training sessions, committing four to eight hours per week.
Comprehensive Support and Resources
The initiative focuses on startups advancing circular economy solutions, primarily in software and hardware technologies. Benefits include access to the AMS Institute’s network, real-world testing at the Marineterrein Living Lab, and a curated list of over 50 potential investors. Founders also receive support in managing investor relationships, circular financing education, cap table management, and aftercare to close funding rounds.
Initiated by the City of Amsterdam in collaboration with AMS Institute and Rockstart, the programme supports 20 startups annually. It offers resources without costs or equity requirements, drawing attention to its commitment to fostering innovation. Past participants have leveraged this support to scale their operations and achieve significant milestones.

De Tweede Jeugd rescues unsold bread and creates new products from it. Droppie focuses on adding value to recyclable materials through a unique collection method and mobile app.
Food for Skin transforms the beauty industry with natural skincare products. Grow It Away redirects food scraps to create healthy compost. MycoFarming develops biobased water treatment methods using mycelium. Primal Soles crafts circular footwear from sustainable cork. Unwaste manufactures circular care products from coffee grounds and orange peels. VEZA leverages financial technology to improve efficiency in the fresh produce chain.
