Ebusco, an electric bus and energy solutions provider based in North Brabant, Netherlands, has named Christian Schreyer as its new Chief Executive Officer. Schreyer’s appointment follows a strategic reorganization aimed at refining the company’s leadership structure. He will assume his role on September 2, bringing over 25 years of experience in public transport and logistics. The company expects Schreyer to lead its operational turnaround and strengthen customer relations.
Ebusco previously announced a revision in its revenue forecast, reflecting its ongoing efforts to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Similarly, the company had made leadership changes in 2020 in response to market demands and internal assessments. These adjustments aimed to navigate the competitive landscape of electric vehicle manufacturing and maintain its pioneering status. The new organizational structure now promises clearer roles and more defined responsibilities, focusing on achieving long-term success.
Leadership Transition
Founder Peter Bijvelds will step down as Co-CEO, marking a significant shift in the company’s leadership. Bijvelds expressed satisfaction with the progress made since Ebusco’s inception in 2010. He emphasized the organization’s dedication to producing zero-emission buses and its pioneering achievements in energy efficiency. Bijvelds further stated his confidence in Schreyer’s ability to steer the company through its next phase of growth.
“From 2010 onwards, my focus has been establishing and further developing Ebusco. While the idea of making cities cleaner with zero-emission buses once seemed ambitious, it has now proven to be the future,” said Peter Bijvelds.
“As Ebusco enters a new phase, it is time for me to hand over the CEO position to Christian whom I trust that under his leadership, the management will take the necessary steps to achieve the further execution of the turnaround,” added Bijvelds.
Support from the Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board has also seen changes with the departure of Ruud Spoor and Saskia Schatteman. Their contributions were acknowledged by Derk Haank, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, who thanked them for their dedication. Michiel Peters, who chaired the Executive Team since June, will also step down but remains supportive of Ebusco’s future endeavors under Schreyer’s leadership.
“The superior product and bright people of Ebusco are a strong foundation for long-term success. I believe that with the recent additions and the arrival of Christian Schreyer, the Executive Team of Ebusco is strong and well positioned to deliver the required operational turnaround and further develop customer relations,” stated Michiel Peters.
Christian Schreyer’s extensive background in public transport and logistics, coupled with his history of successfully leading company turnarounds, positions him as a strong candidate to guide Ebusco. His industry expertise and customer-centric approach are expected to drive the company’s growth and operational improvements. The strategic backing from major shareholders further underscores the confidence in Schreyer’s leadership.
Ebusco’s recent organizational changes reflect a broader trend within the electric vehicle industry, where leadership reconfiguration plays a crucial role in navigating market challenges and seizing new opportunities. Schreyer’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the company, poised to enhance its market position and operational efficiency.
