DHL, a prominent logistics company, has entered into a new partnership with Envision Group, a leader in green technology. The collaboration aims to drive sustainability advancements in logistics and energy, particularly focusing on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Both companies will explore technologies and renewable feedstock sources to support decarbonization in air transportation.
Previously, DHL has taken significant steps towards sustainability, including their 2021 Sustainability Roadmap. This roadmap commits to ambitious climate targets and integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals into executive compensation. Envision Group, established in Shanghai in 2007, has a history of providing renewable energy solutions with a focus on smart wind turbines, energy storage, and green hydrogen.
DHL’s new partnership with Envision Group highlights the significance of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Envision plans to provide SAF to DHL, addressing cost barriers through technological innovations. This effort aims to revolutionize SAF production and support global carbon neutrality goals.
Green Energy Initiatives
The collaboration between DHL and Envision also extends to green energy initiatives. Envision will deliver comprehensive energy transition solutions, including green power procurements, to help DHL achieve its renewable energy goals. DHL will serve as a key strategic partner for Envision’s development plans, especially as the preferred logistics partner.
Net Zero Industrial Park
Another significant aspect of the partnership is the joint development of a Net Zero Industrial & Logistic Park. This project aims to create sustainable solutions across various industries, powered entirely by clean energy. The park model has already been launched in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, with plans for global expansion supported by DHL.
The emphasis on sustainable aviation fuels is a pivotal part of DHL’s broader environmental strategy. Their 2021 roadmap committed to using at least 30% SAF blending by 2030. This recent partnership with Envision is a strategic move to achieve these ambitious targets. Envision’s focus on overcoming high costs associated with green hydrocarbons aligns well with DHL’s sustainability goals.
Tobias Meyer, Chief Executive Officer at DHL Group, commented:
“The partnership framework with Envision represents a further step towards global sustainability leadership for DHL Group. By leveraging our unparalleled logistics expertise and unique global network, we are committed to supporting Envision in their international expansion and logistical challenges. Together, we will lead the change in integrating green technologies and optimizing supply chains, setting new benchmarks for sustainable innovation and global environmental impact through the energy transition.”
The collaboration between DHL and Envision Group signifies a significant step towards sustainable logistics and energy solutions. By focusing on SAF, green energy, and the development of a Net Zero Industrial Park, the partnership aims to drive substantial progress in the global green transition. These initiatives are expected to set new benchmarks for sustainable practices in both logistics and energy sectors, benefiting both companies and their broader environmental goals.
