Amid rising energy concerns, Swedish startup Nrlyze is expanding its efforts to tackle heat waste in buildings. The company, founded in 2020 by Lars Hansson and Christian Engstrand, recently secured SEK 10 million (about €897K) to enhance its smart heating control solutions. This investment follows the challenges associated with managing heating systems in Swedish properties, where approximately 40% of the country’s total energy consumption is devoted to building operations. Nrlyze aims to cut heating bills by 10 to 15% for property owners using advanced AI algorithms to identify inefficiencies.
Recent reports show that Nrlyze’s revenue has increased significantly, reaching almost SEK 8M in 2024 compared to SEK 4M in 2023. Notably, the company’s financial results also improved from a loss of SEK 1M to a profit of approximately SEK 500K. By leveraging data analytics and AI, Nrlyze plans to tap into a larger market, which represents a departure from its initial focus on smaller property owners.
How Does Nrlyze Plan to Use the New Funding?
With the fresh capital, Nrlyze aims to scale its organization and foster long-term partnerships. The funding round, led by VEQ and Aipa Invesco AB, also saw contributions from noted backers such as Peter Carlsson of Northvolt. These funds will be crucial to Nrlyze’s strategy of accelerating its expansion into new markets and enhancing its engagement with larger property portfolios.
“This investment lets us scale our team, reach larger portfolios, and expand to new markets,” said Lars Hansson, CEO and co-founder.
What Drives Nrlyze’s Technological Approach?
At the core of Nrlyze’s technology is its use of AI algorithms combined with on-site hardware to analyze and optimize heating systems in real-time. This method not only reduces energy expenses but also has a direct impact on the property valuation through lowering operational costs. Heating remains the most significant energy use component in Swedish buildings, and inefficient management often leads to systematic energy wastage.
“What we are doing is reducing energy use and thus energy expenses,” Hansson emphasized.
Nrlyze’s innovation is particularly timely, given the global emphasis on sustainability and efficient energy management. The company’s focus on high-efficiency solutions has attracted a growing list of customers, now approximately 100, predominantly small property owners and associations. As it shifts focus toward larger customers, Nrlyze seeks to further consolidate its market position.
This recent funding rounds out a total raised capital of SEK 15 million (approximately €1.3M) and aligns with the company’s mission to provide cost-effective energy-saving solutions. Intelligent heating control technology presents significant opportunities for reducing operating costs for property owners. By strategically expanding its market reach, Nrlyze is poised to make notable advancements in this area.
While the challenges of energy waste in buildings have been well-documented, companies like Nrlyze contribute to addressing these issues through innovative technological applications. Their ongoing success indicates a rising demand for smart home solutions that not only save costs but also support sustainable practices in property management.
