The Great Place To Work institute has consistently recognized excellent organizations through its annual accolades. Each year, numerous companies participate in the Trust Index survey, which delves into employees’ experiences and feelings about their workplace environments. However, despite nearly 431 organizations taking part in the latest edition, only a select 236 achieved the coveted certified status, with just 50 ultimately appearing in the rankings. A noteworthy expansion this year includes a broader Medium category, escalating from previous editions, showcasing the expanding focus on medium-sized enterprises.

How Did Companies Become Recognized as the Best?

To appear on the 2025 Best Workplaces list, companies needed to achieve certification through the Trust Index survey. Factors examined include employees’ sense of trust in leadership, pride in their work, and general enjoyment within the organization. Furthermore, companies had to meet requirements, including employing over 20 staff members with sufficient participation in the surveys.

These companies emphasize creating an enriching environment for their employees, focusing on continuous learning and development. For instance, Blue Bricks, present in Alphen aan den Rijn, supports employees through initiatives like its all-you-can-learn growth program. Providing courses and development options, employees benefit tremendously. Their efforts reflect awareness that assisting employees extends beyond professional development and influences personal well-being, aligning mutual goals between the organization and individuals.

Spril, based in Flevoland, demonstrates a similar approach but with an emphasis on Workforce Management (WFM) and Personnel Planning (PP). It offers support mechanisms like consultancy and Total Workforce Management to ensure job satisfaction and work-life balance. Accounting for employee needs and organizational ambitions, companies like BORG-OSC and Mobilee enhance organizational processes and optimize digital transformation strategies.

As employees increasingly value continuous growth, businesses such as iSprout and Omniprofs adopt collaborative, people-centric methods to foster an engaging work culture. These strategies not only prioritize employees but also address ever-changing client demands. Companies invest in creating atmospheres where both staff and clients thrive.

Initiatives explored by these medium-sized companies emphasize aligning growth opportunities for the employees while effectively serving the clients. Their approaches showcase significant investment in training, benefits, and opportunities for professional advancement. The notable shifts reflect broader movements towards holistic improvement across mediums such as process enhancement, seamless integration, and improved experiences.

The changing emphasis toward certified workplaces opens a window into evolving organizational practices, promoting active employee engagement and comprehensive professional support. Analyzing the Great Place To Work list reveals the emphasis on adopting employee-focused mechanisms, shaping the current and future trajectories of organic workplace cultures.

“We believe aligning personal development with delivery is integral for success,” stated a spokesperson for Blue Bricks.

Recognition of dynamic workplaces continues to erode hierarchical barriers, supporting collective decision-making and allowing employees to engage openly with company practices. The expanding list demonstrates increased interest in inclusion and collaboration, trends that define the distinctive characteristics of the 2025 Best Workplaces list, revealing transformative impacts for Dutch companies.

“Personalized approaches in workforce management cultivate collaborative environments,” explained a representative from Spril.

Organizations aiming to discern the finest medium-sized companies will find the recent Great Place To Work listing an invaluable resource.
