OpenAI has rolled out GPT-5, making it the standard AI model within ChatGPT, a move noted for expanding productivity for diverse users. Subscription-based users see significant benefits with GPT-5. ChatGPT Plus members experience doubled messaging caps, totaling 160 messages over three hours, effectively offering more interactivity. CEO Sam Altman remarked on plans to enhance service limits, indicating intention for an improved user experience.
“We are going to double rate limits for Plus users as we finish rollout,” Altman confirmed, stressing increased accessibility.
For Pro and Team accounts, restrictions are more lenient, presenting close to unlimited use unless overused or shared.
Older AI models are being phased out with GPT-5’s introduction, streamlining the model choices available to users. Seven AI versions, including GPT-4.1 and o3-pro, are being removed. While free users notice immediate changes, paying members still have legacy access, contingent on account settings.
GPT-5 supports all existing ChatGPT tools and adjusts them automatically based on user needs, enhancing the efficiencies in tasks such as data analysis or image generation.
