Demand for electric vehicles continues to rise as environmental awareness grows worldwide. One company, Everrati Automotive, aims to bridge the gap between iconic automotive engineering and sustainable technology. This U.K.-based firm specializes in converting classic cars into electric vehicles, catering to discerning clients who seek both luxury and eco-friendliness.
Electric vehicle (EV) conversions have evolved significantly in the last decade. Early efforts primarily focused on functionality, often compromising on aesthetics. Now, firms like Everrati emphasize preserving the heritage and design of classic vehicles while modernizing them for reduced environmental impact. This shift aligns with consumer expectations and technological advancements, making EV conversions a more appealing option for car enthusiasts.
How Did Everrati Start?
The inspiration behind Everrati’s inception was unconventional. Founder Justin Lunny, previously rooted in fintech, was moved by the electrified Jaguar E-Type seen at the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. Recognizing a business opportunity, he established Everrati alongside ex-VW executive Nick Williams. They aim to adapt vintage models into electric works of art, maintaining their historical allure while adapting them for future roads.
Why Is the U.S. Market Key?
A significant portion of Everrati’s clientele resides in the United States, with most sales deriving from this region. To accommodate this demand, Everrati shifted some operations to California, mainly for Porsche-based projects. These efforts cater to a clientele that appreciates unique craftsmanship and sustainable innovations, integrating both classic charm and modern sensibilities.
“We certainly think there is a market to produce a few hundred cars a year… People love a very bespoke journey,” stated CEO Justin Lunny.
This approach illustrates Everrati’s commitment to catering to an exclusive audience, emphasizing bespoke experiences over mass production.
Everrati distinguishes itself in the niche market of EV conversions with premium products. The rigorous conversion process, which can exceed $450,000 including the donor vehicle, reflects the high cost of labor and superior components sourced. Utilizing motors from Formula E and advanced silicon carbide inverters, Everrati guarantees its builds meet the highest performance standards.
Expanding beyond Porsches, Everrati accepts custom projects like transforming a Lamborghini LM002 into an EV. This project captures their willingness to tackle diverse challenges and enhance a wider array of automotive icons. Although bespoke transformations currently highlight their portfolio, Everrati envisions future growth through original EV models and strategic business partnerships.
“A company might be developing a brand-new electric sports car, electric boat, electric whatever, and we will be the partner of choice,” Lunny mentions, underlining Everrati’s ambitions beyond individual consumer projects.
This strategy highlights potential collaborations in various industries, promoting electric technology’s broader adoption.
